7 Exciting Tunnels In India – Claustrophobics Stay Away!

1. Pir Panjal Tunnel

Located: Jammu and Kashmir

India’s biggest achievement w.r.t. tunnels is this passage in J&K. It is officially at the top of the board with it being the longest railway tunnel in India as well as for its elevation, which is the highest in India.
 

2. Jawahar Tunnel

Located:  Jammu and Kashmir

Named after the Prime Minster Jawahar Lal Nehru, this is one of the longest road tunnels up north. It has recently been upgraded to world class facilities like lighting systems, CCTV’s, and sensors for a smoother travel.
 

3. Karbude Tunnel

Located: Konkan Coast

The second longest railway tunnel in India, that shows you the other side of the Konkan experience. It is part of the Konkan railways that consists of nearly 92 tunnels in the entire section.
 

4. Kamshet Tunnel

Located: Mumbai Pune Expressway

This road tunnel is the longest in Maharashtra and is one of the best experiences on the Expressway. It consists of 2 tubes with 3 lanes for the commute.
 

5. Natuwadi tunnel

Located: Between Karanjadi and Diwan station

The second longest tunnel on the Konkan railways, is a 4 km stretch spanning across the 2 stations in Maharashtra, which are also a part of the Konkan coast.
 

6. Bhatan Tunnel

7. Tike Tunnel

This tunnel passes by the Sahyadri range connecting the port city of Maharshtra – Ratnagiri to Nivasar in the interiors of Maharashtra.
