Do
you love your life? That’s a hard question to answer. If life is a
puzzle of moments, then you can definitely say that you love some parts
of it. But if you take your life as a whole…There are days when your
life is not good enough. Sometimes you think you could do better if
you’d made different decisions in the past. Sometimes you have this
annoying feeling that life is passing you by. It’s hard to love
something that is passing you by, right?
Believe it or not, it is possible to adore your life and there are
people who are totally in love with their lives. Why is that important?
Arthur Rubinstein said that if you love life, life will love you back.
Follow 5 simple steps and you’ll see – loving your life is easier than
you think.
Step 1. “Love the One You’re With”
That
line from Stephen Stills song became one of hippie’s favorite rules of
life (and those guys knew how to enjoy it to the fullest). So what you
should really do is to surround yourself with people you love and get
away from unnecessary people. Yes, you can’t get rid of anyone who’s
annoying, but you can limit the time you spend with the wrong people.
Ask yourself a question – if today was the last day of your life who
would you like to spend it with? Having dinner with a boring boss and
nervous business partners? Chatting with your former cheerleader
classmate you haven’t seen in ages? Or maybe you’d prefer to spend this
time with a glass of wine and good friends who are always there for you?
That’s what I am talking about. It’s always your choice, and you should
choose the right people. Surround yourself with your dearest friends,
those, who really care about you. The moments, spent with friends and
family will definitely add value to your life.
Step 2. Take care of your health
You
can’t enjoy your life if you are sick. Even if it’s temporary sickness,
like flu, you fall out of life good cycle for several days, spending
time in bed and dreaming/hoping that it will finally be over. Serious
health problems spoil your life even more, of course. It doesn’t mean
that if you are not healthy you should hate your life. It means that you
are in charge of your health and by taking good care of yourself you
increase your happiness rate. Everyone knows that exercising eliminates
stress, boosts your confidence, and balances your hormones. Healthy diet
also does wonders for your overall mood. So why don’t you start loving
your life with a morning run and a glass of fresh juice?
Step 3. Be a free spirit
Set
yourself free. From judgments of people you don’t care about. From
unnecessary obligations. From the feeling of guilt or embarrassment or
envy, which poison our life. Try not to rush and let yourself relax.
There is so little freedom in the modern world. Just think about it – we
are dependent on technologies, of society, of our daily routine. Forget
about others, and what they think or say about you. Forget about
liking, sharing and taking photos. For the first time in your life think
what you want to do and do it. You will fall in love in this new
free-spirited life.
Step 4. Do what you like, like what you do
Easier
said than done. However, it’s a huge misconception that everyone hates
their jobs and work only to earn a living. I will even cite Confucius
here (if it won’t sound too pretentious): ‘Choose a job you love, and
you will never have to work a day in your life.’ Well that’s true and in
the modern world of possibilities it is a real aim. The problem is not
that you can’t get any job you want. The real problem is that you don’t
know what you want. You should analyze your priorities and goals and
decide — is your job choice correct? If you had a chance to do anything,
what would you do? Maybe, answering this question will change your life
forever. I know a woman who gave up her career in marketing to do what
she really loves — to create hand-made leather purses. And you know
what? She loves her life more and more every day since then.
Step 5. Keep innovating yourself
Have
you ever noticed that intelligent people never get bored? If you
develop yourself you will enjoy yourself no matter what. Your brain will
be too busy to think what you are not satisfied with. Improving
yourself – your skills, your character, your will – you will improve
your quality of life. You will deserve better, want more from life, and
sooner or later get what you deserve. There are so many ways of
self-development today that it is more like a hobby than an obligation –
read books, listen to audio lectures, go to literature club, take
online programming courses… Even half an hour a day will make
difference, and you will find so many new reasons to love your life.
And remember – you’ve got only one life to live and to love. Don’t waste your time!
‘Life isn’t a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely
in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in
one hand, latte in the other, the body thoroughly used up and totally
worn out and your screaming ‘Woohoo WHAT A RIDE’!
